The Hérault Valley municipal Community was born in 1998, bringing together 20 different municipalities.

New municipalities have gradually chosen to join and in January 2002, it reached its present perimeter, combining 28 municipalities in the cantons of Gignac and Aniane.

The Community was formed in a flexible manner with the voluntary adhesion of the municipalities gradually wishing to join. Today it forms one of the biggest municipal communities in the Department, with over 30,000 inhabitants.

It deals with important issues, namely in the field of economic development, but also in terms of preserving the surroundings in the face of increasing demographic growth.
